Use Business Data Responsibly

Access to Data Fox information does not remove a customer's responsibility to evaluate the legal, regulatory and contractual requirements applicable to their own outreach and data use.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that their use of Data Fox products and information complies with laws, regulations, contractual obligations and industry requirements applicable to their own activities and jurisdictions.

Who This Policy Applies To

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to customers, authorized users and other persons or organizations that access, receive, purchase or use Data Fox products, databases, business contact information or related services.

This may include:

  • Data Fox customers;
  • Employees of customer organizations;
  • Authorized contractors and service providers;
  • Agencies acting for customers;
  • Other authorized users who receive or access Data Fox deliverables.

Use of Data Fox services is also subject to applicable contractual terms, the Data Fox Privacy Policy and other policies incorporated into the relevant agreement.

Permitted Business Uses

Subject to applicable law, contractual restrictions and this Policy, Data Fox information may be used for legitimate business purposes such as:

Sales Prospecting

Identifying businesses and professional decision-makers relevant to a sales campaign.

Account-Based Marketing

Researching selected organizations and relevant professional roles within target accounts.

Market Research

Conducting legitimate market mapping, segmentation and business research.

Business Development

Identifying potential partners, vendors, organizations or commercial opportunities.

Recruitment

Professional recruitment and talent outreach, subject to applicable employment and privacy laws.

Relevant business invitations relating to conferences, webinars or professional events.

A permitted category of use does not automatically mean that every individual communication or processing activity is lawful in every jurisdiction.

Responsible Commercial Email Use

Customers using Data Fox information for business email outreach are responsible for evaluating and complying with requirements applicable to their campaigns.

Responsible email practices should include, where applicable:

Use accurate and non-misleading sender information.

Avoid deceptive or misleading subject lines.

Clearly identify commercial communications where applicable.

Include valid business contact information or a physical postal address where required.

Provide a functioning unsubscribe or opt-out mechanism where required.

Honor applicable unsubscribe and opt-out requests.

Maintain appropriate suppression records.

Review jurisdiction-specific marketing requirements before beginning outreach.

Important: Obtaining business contact information from Data Fox does not by itself constitute consent or authorization for every type of communication.

Spam, Harassment & Abusive Outreach Are Prohibited

Data Fox products and services must not be used to conduct, facilitate or support abusive, deceptive or harmful communications.

Phishing
Credential theft
Malware distribution
Fraud or scams
Impersonation
Threats or harassment
Message-routing manipulation
Anti-spam system circumvention

Respect Privacy Requests & Suppression

Customers are responsible for maintaining appropriate processes to recognize and honor privacy and communication preferences that apply to their own activities.

Depending on applicable law and campaign type, this may include:

  • Unsubscribe requests;
  • Do-not-contact requests;
  • Suppression lists;
  • Correction requests;
  • Deletion requests;
  • Applicable opt-out requests relating to qualifying sale or sharing of personal information;
  • Other applicable privacy preferences.

Uses That Are Not Allowed

Data Fox data, products and services may not be used for unlawful, fraudulent, harmful or abusive activities.

× Fraud & Scams

Using information to deceive, defraud or financially exploit another person or organization.

× Identity Theft

Using information to impersonate another person or create fraudulent identities.

× Phishing

Attempting to obtain credentials, passwords, payment information or sensitive information.

× Malware

Delivering malicious software, harmful files, links or code.

× Harassment

Stalking, threatening, intimidating or repeatedly contacting individuals after applicable objections.

× Doxxing

Publishing information to facilitate harassment, threats or other harmful activity.

× Illegal Surveillance

Using information for unlawful monitoring, tracking or surveillance.

× Privacy Circumvention

Intentionally bypassing opt-outs, suppression requests or lawful privacy controls.

Sensitive & High-Risk Uses

Data Fox business contact data should not be used as the sole basis for decisions that determine a person's eligibility for high-impact opportunities, products or services.

Customers considering sensitive or regulated uses must independently determine whether their proposed use is lawful, appropriate and permitted under their agreement with Data Fox.

Telephone & Text Messaging

The availability of a telephone number does not itself mean that a person has consented to every type of call, automated communication or text message.

Customers are responsible for evaluating requirements relevant to their campaigns, including where applicable:

  • Consent requirements;
  • Do-not-call rules;
  • Telemarketing restrictions;
  • Automated dialing requirements;
  • Prerecorded or artificial voice requirements;
  • SMS and messaging requirements;
  • Time-of-day restrictions;
  • Jurisdiction-specific telecommunications laws.

Protect Data From Unauthorized Access

Customers should maintain reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information they receive from Data Fox.

Authorized Access

Limit access to personnel who reasonably need the data for an approved business purpose.

Secure Storage

Store files in appropriately protected systems rather than public or unsecured locations.

Access Controls

Use suitable authentication, passwords and permission controls.

Controlled Sharing

Prevent unauthorized downloads, transfers, copying or external distribution.

Incident Response

Address suspected unauthorized access or misuse promptly.

Retention Review

Retain information only for legitimate purposes, subject to contractual and legal requirements.

Resale, Sharing & Redistribution

Unless expressly permitted in a written agreement with Data Fox, customers must not:

  • Resell a Data Fox database;
  • Sublicense Data Fox data;
  • Publish the database publicly;
  • Upload the database to open repositories;
  • Provide the database to unrelated third parties;
  • Make the database generally available for download;
  • Use Data Fox deliverables to create an unauthorized competing data product.

Customers may permit appropriate employees, contractors or service providers to access information where such access is necessary for the customer's permitted use and is consistent with the applicable agreement.

Use Business Data Responsibly

Business information changes over time. Professionals may change employers, job titles or contact details, while companies may relocate, merge, restructure or change business characteristics.

Customers should independently evaluate the relevance, appropriateness and current status of information for their intended use.

Data verification does not mean: every field exists on every record, every email remains deliverable indefinitely, information can never change or campaign results are guaranteed.

Violations of This Policy

Where Data Fox reasonably believes that this Acceptable Use Policy, an applicable agreement or applicable law has been violated, Data Fox may take appropriate action depending on the circumstances.

Such action may include:

  • Requesting that prohibited activity stop;
  • Requesting additional information about the use;
  • Restricting access to services;
  • Suspending services;
  • Terminating services or an agreement;
  • Declining future transactions;
  • Requesting deletion of improperly used Data Fox data;
  • Taking other action permitted by contract or law.

Report Suspected Misuse

If you believe Data Fox data or services are being used in a manner that violates this Policy, you may contact Data Fox with relevant information.

Changes to This Policy

Data Fox may update this Acceptable Use Policy periodically to reflect changes in our products, services, business practices, contractual requirements or applicable law.

When this Policy is updated, the Last Updated date displayed on this page will be revised.

Where additional notice of a material change is required, Data Fox will provide such notice using an appropriate method.
